STRIKER Gary Cohen made his second City start on Tuesday in the Setanta Shield against Hayes & Yeading United.

The speedy forward put in a good shift without really threatening to net as City lacked the cutting edge to open up the visitors. Castle feels the 90 minutes will do Cohen good. He said: "I think considering the lad has been out for two years he was always going to be a bit rusty. It was probably an ideal time to see what he is like and he maybe wasn't as much of an impact player as when he comes on as a substitute but he is looking for a start. He doesn't want to be a substitute forever. He may get another chance to start on Saturday."

Young Southend United defender Gordon Rieck made his first start for the Saints on work experience and for the most part gave a solid display alongside Ben Martin in the centre before switching to right back in the second half. Castle said: "Gordon came in and I don't think he let himself down. The two centre backs were a bit flat footed for the goal but we won't be the last team to be caught out by that attacking force. They were a good going forward.
