STRIKER Simon Martin is thinking over a loan switch to St Albans City ahead of the clash with Havant and Waterlooville on Saturday.

Acting boss Steve Castle who takes the team for the trip to face the Hawks, will be desperate to secure the signature of Martin or to have forward Richard Butler back in contention. Butler is hopeful of returning from his ankle injury.

Saints have scored just twice in four Blue Square South fixtures, picking up just one point in the process.

Castle is set to land two other signings this week to bolster his depleted squad for the trip to Havant and will be able to call on influential midfielder Paul Bruce before his five match suspension starts.

Saints have also made an approach to bring midfielder Dean Cracknell back to the club from Hemel Hempstead Town. The Tudors have responded by putting in an approach for defender Ben Martin who has been absent from the City squad for recent games.

Saints will be without Bruce for five matches after his three match ban for his red card against Sutton United was confirmed. The former Dagger starts his two match ban for picking up 10 yellow cards this term on Saturday, January 19 away at Eastleigh.

City will also be without full backs Jomo Faal-Thomas and Craig Vargas and midfielder Jon Stevenson for the trip to Eastleigh. Faal-Thomas has picked up a one match ban for his red card (two bookings) on Saturday Sutton. Vargas and Stevenson were both cautioned and have each accumulated five bookings this term meaning they also serve one match bans.

The Saints have been handed a £500 fine from the Football Association for picking up six cautions against Sutton United. Faal-Thomas was booked twice and Stevenson, Vargas and Clarke were also booked, with Nick Eyre carded following the final whistle. It is the second time Saints have been fined for reaching six bookings in a match this season.

Club officials have been summoned to the FA next week to explain their woeful disciplinary record prior to the end of October 2007 which has been cited as 'one of the worst of all clubs the FA deals with'.

Striker Daniel Chillingworth will return to Cambridge United following the end of his loan spell which expires on Saturday. Dave Anderson's signing managed just two 45 minute run outs for the City first team and looked short of match fitness. He has been struggling with ongoing injury problems and is not expected to be in the squad for the trip to Havant.
