CITY boss Steve Castle wants his team to kick their habit of only playing for 45 minutes as their search continues for their first league win since early November.

City were completely outplayed during the first half at Woodside Park and Castle wants his side to compete for the full 90 minutes.

"It's becoming a bad habit that we can't play for 90 minutes," Castle told The Herts Advertiser. "In the first 45 there were just so many disappointing performances. I told them individually who they were and I said at half time 'look I want 11 men who want to win a game of football' and I got it in the second half."

"They must take some positives out of it but we must look at our recent results and for periods in the games we've more than matched every single team.

"At Bromley we're starting off 3-0 down, Welling you're giving them goals but we've come back but we've lost those games. At Weston-super-Mare we're the better team then we gave them a 20-minute spell where they scored but against Bishop's Stortford I was disappointed and I got a response. I'm bamboozled as to why that is."

The Clarence Park chief admitted after the game that if they don't start winning soon, they may start looking over their shoulder at the dreaded relegation zone.

"We're aware of it. Wins are going to get us back in the play-offs and draws will have us looking over our shoulders at relegation. It's my job to keep everything as positive as possible. There's still plenty of points to play for."

Soloman Shields made his City debut at Stortford on Saturday and although he impressed, Castle said he'll be advising him to calm down a little.

"Soloman's come in; he's on the fringes of the first team at Leyton Orient. He'll take a little while to get used to things and the level. He was a little bit absent in the first half but in the second half he got on the front foot and produced what I saw on Wednesday when we had our practice game.

"We've got that tigerish aspect in Soloman that's for certain and in some ways that's where he's going to come and play first team football at a very good level and he'll find that out. Let's hope he finds that out sooner rather than later and he will be advised on that by me.
