St Albans City boss Steve Castle says his side were disappointed that they didn't have the opportunity to get back on track after their game with AFC Wimbledon was postponed on Saturday.

The pitch at Clarence Park was under four inches of snow and was called off on Friday before more snow fell overnight, and Castle says his team were frustrated they couldn't go about getting their first league win since early November.

Castle told The Herts Advertiser: "We're disappointed that we couldn't back to winning ways. The pitch at Clarence Park is completely unplayable. Everybody's suffering the same. Hopefully we won't lose out on the revenue side because whenever we play it'll hopefully be important for both teams."

Castle had the players in for training on Saturday with the players training on a special weatherproof pitch.

"We trained on Saturday at midday on a third generation pitch at Loughton. We did as best we could and the lads showed a great attitude. It was a great exercise in getting everyone together."

Captain Ben Martin and defender James Fisher were both due to miss the Wimbledon game through suspension but with the game's postponement they will now miss the Hertfordshire derby with Bishop's Stortford on Saturday.

"We've got a couple of suspensions we could do without, with Ben Martin and James Fisher and we could do with getting them out of the way but it gives the lads who are coming in a chance to recover."

A couple of the players have niggles ahead of Saturday's clash but Castle is confident that bar Lee Clarke, he will have a full squad to choose from.

"Chris Seeby's got a slight groin injury but should be alright. Ryan Frater should be fine after this enforced break, and apart from Lee Clarke, we're looking at a reasonable clean bill of health.
