TOWNSEND played the first leg of the Mather trophy at Harperbury coming from well back to lose by one shot.
The narrow 74-73 defeat sets up the second leg for a dramatic contest on Thursday, August 7.
Townsend found their form to defeat Owls in the second leg of the Pearce trophy but could not pull back the deficit from the first leg.
The County competitions have now reached the quarter final stage with Townsend represented in all four disciplines; fours, triples, pairs and singles with Andrew Briden playing in all four. The club wish the team members well as they bid to reach the National Finals at Worthing.
