ST Albans City manager Steve Castle has backed his strikers to deliver after missed opportunities proved costly for the second match in succession in the Blue Square South at Worcester City on Monday.

Chances galore were spurned by the Saints leaving the lively contingent of away fans bemused by the tally of just one point and one goal from the two opening fixtures. Castle said: "It would have been no injustice had we got maximum points out of the two games. Sometimes football is a bit cruel. The lads that are upfront at the moment are renowned goalscorers and I have to have faith that they will put the ball in the back of the net."

Castle believes the luckless Paul Hakim will soon find his scoring touch to help Saints land the results their enterprising attacking play deserves. He said: "It would never surprise me if he gets 20 goals plus this year. He needs one to go in and I think he will get himself on a run.
