After an opening round of 67, four under par, Brian Davis lost his chance of a high finish in the US Tour's Heritage Classic in South Carolina when he slipped back on the second day with a 74.

The former Herts county player, now based in Florida, who has marred previous events with a poor round after a bright start, made the halfway cut and went on to recapture his best form over the par 71 Harbour Town course.

Rounds of 69, 70 for a four under par total of 280 saw him finish in 23rd place as home player Boo Weekley took the title with a 15 under par 269.
