LONDON Colney have announced the appointment of a new management team.

The Spartan South Midlands League side, who will start the season in Division One after relegation from the Premier Division last term, will be handled by Julian Robinson, formerly first-team coach at Tring Athletic, and Frank Patrick, who was first-team coach at local rivals Colney Heath.

Robinson commented: "Frank and I are under no illusions as to the size of the task here, but we genuinely believe that we can return the club to former glories, the potential is there for all to see. The club won the premier division as recently as 2002, but has had one bad season, which started with a pre-season exodus of players to Leverstock Green, and we paid heavily for that."

He went on: "Since I was approached and have become involved with the club, I have been very impressed with the set up, we have a new committee who have worked tirelessly close season to give the club the best start we can get, on and off the field. These improvements include new training pitch lights, extra pitch floodlights, a small extension to the stand, plans to improve the clubhouse and changing rooms, and a small target driven playing budget. We have also reformed the midweek Under 18s team, in a link with St Albans City Youth, which is a fantastic plus for both clubs.

"Every player old and new starts with a clean slate here this season, we want players who want to work hard, hopefully learn and most importantly play to win with a bit passion. We are after those capable playing at this standard and above."

Training starts on Tuesday, June 24, at 7pm at the Cotlandswick ground and all are very welcome. Should you require any information, please call Julian Robinson on 07764 147072.
