LONDON Colney slumped to a disappointing 3-1 home defeat against Sun Postal Sports on Saturday after a well below-par performance.

The visitors were ahead after just nine minutes when Josh Humbert's poor header from Darren Turner's cross was pounced on by Chris McIntyre who fired home.

The Blueboys looked to hit back with Dave Parkinson seeing his header saved.

Fabian Forde's run was stopped by Mark Paradise and Mark Whittamore did well to deny McIntyre.

A mistake by Lee Benning let Turner in but he blazed wide of the open goal.

Eight minutes into the second half Colney equalised. Frankie Jowle advanced down the right and squared to Gary Simmonds. His first time shot hit the post but Russel Gallagher was on hand to score from an acute angle.

Colney had their tails up now and visiting stopper Tom Bullock did well to beat away an effort from Jowle.

Whittamore was also busy denying Leon Stewart and producing a brilliant one handed save from McIntyre's effort.

Disaster struck for the Blueboys when Greg Shaw was given his marching orders, shown a straight red by the referee for a two footed lunge.

Things got even worse for Colney when Sun Postal grabbed a second in the 89th minute. Dean Collins' cross wasn't dealt with by Dave Corran and Forde was on hand to tuck the ball home.

The Blueboys should have been level when Humbert headed goalwards but Bullock somehow pushed it over the bar from point blank range.

With Colney pushing for the equaliser an inevitable third came from the visitors with Turner turning the ball home to put the result beyond doubt.
