LONDON Colney hosted top-three outfit Beaconsfield SYCOB on Saturday in the Molten Spartan South Midlands Premier Division.

Following the exit of boss Vince Rickard and the departures of players Anthony Muthusamy and Lee Rickard to Colney Heath, the Blueboys had a much changed side. Dominic Haynes and Tinashe Jaravaza earned starts and striker Jermaine Davey returned to lead the attack, alongside his brother Cain.

Beaconsfield attacked from the kick off and Aaron Lennon saw his venomous effort pushed over by the excellent Colney 'keeper Stuart McHale.

Defender Shaun Murphy had to make a fine clearance to thwart the visitors while, at the other end, Haynes set up veteran Dave Townsend who arrowed a shot just over.

In the 23rd minute, the visitors took the lead when prolific scorer Mick Swaysland nodded home from a corner.

Colney stalwarts Mark Paradise and skipper Danny McCafferty were in commanding form to repel further attacks from Beaconsfield.

Strikers Cain and Jermaine Davey attempted to bludgeon their way through the visiting defence for Colney and the energetic Jaravaza was fouled just outside the box. Cain Davey stepped up but his free kick was punched clear.

After half time, Darren Till set up Jermaine Davey who shot just wide and, at the other end, Lennon broke clear only to be denied by the legs of McHale.

Townsend and Cain Davey came close to securing a point for the battling Blueboys but their desperate search for goals and precious points continues.

l On Tuesday, the Blueboys went to Hertford Town and the side was selected by an internal committee of Dave Townsend, Tony Caines and Gary Doolan.

New signing Paul Armstrong, who featured for St Albans City earlier this season, started for the Blueboys.

The hosts took just three minutes to open the scoring when Ryan Redford burst into the box and drilled the ball into the bottom corner.

Hertford continued to attack and Cooper and Redford went close. For Colney, Cain Davey should have made it 1-1 when he took a fine pass from Armstrong but lashed his shot wide.

In the 26th minute it was 2-0, when Phil Goss tapped home from close range after Colney 'keeper Stuart McHale got injured in the box. Outfield substitute Tony Caines had to take over in goal with McHale replaced.

Hertford added a third goal before half time when Ian Cooper turned inside the box and drilled the ball home.

In the second half, the Blueboys were reduced to 10-men when Jermaine Davey was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Hertford made it 4-0 on 69 minutes when Cooper scored at the third attempt and, eight minutes later, it was 5-0 when Ryan Wade netted a glancing header from a free kick.

Colney went in search of a consolation and Townsend had a shot saved. Armstrong and substitute Dominic Haynes combined well and Darren Till shot just wide late in the game.

Hertford added to the Colney humiliation in the final minute when Cooper completed his hat trick with a shot that arrowed into the top corner for 6-0.

l London Colney A played two matches and firstly beat Clannad Celtic 3-2 with goals from Rio Enver, Dave Othman and Haydn Connell. They then lost 3-1 to Wilbury Wanderers. Rio Enver found the net again for the Blueboys.
