Blacksmiths’ second appearance in a county final went the same way as their first – as they suffered a 3-1 defeat.
The Herts Advertiser Sunday League Division One side were taking on Everett Rovers of the Watford Sunday League in the final of the Herts Intermediate Cup.
But they struggled to gain a foothold against a strong Rovers outfit until it was too late.
They were two down by half-time and conceded a third from the penalty spot before Jamie Hazell pulled one back with three minutes to go.
They were boosted on their return to the dressing room that Tansley’s 2-2 draw with Beehive was enough to give them the Division One title.
Tom Merritt and Steve Weldon scored for Tansley while Leo Gibbon and Zach Wallace were on target for Beehive.
Facelad’s run of five straight wins ended with a 1-0 loss to Oaks from whom Jamie Jones scored.
AFC Mymms recorded a 2-1 win over Plough & Harrow with goals from Ennis Daly and Nathan Singh while Aykan Gurgur scored for Plough.
And after four defeats Pinewood came good with a 2-1 victory over Snug Bar. Andrew Alsop grabbed both goals while Bradley Morrison replied for Snug.
In Division Two there was a 5-1 win for Phoenix Res over New Greens with Shenahl Samarasinghe getting two of them.
AFC London Road held onto their unbeaten record with a closely fought 3-2 win against Royston Rangers, Alex English getting two and Jay Caines one.
Jonathan Tantan scored his first hat-trick of the season in TNF’s 4-1 win against Royston Rangers Res in Division Three. Steve Orchard netted the other goal while Samuel Parchment scored Rangers’ lone goal.
Hatfield Seniors and Brookmans Park A served up a treat for the watching supporters but neither could find a winner as the match ended in a 3-3 draw.
Curtis Warner got a double for the Seniors, with Liam Daly one while Adam Davies (two) and Tom Wellings scored for Park.
Title chasing Wheathampstead 89 were given a tough game before eventually claiming a 3-1 win over Blacksmith Res. Adam Hall, Arron Goldsmith and Alex Norwood scored the goals while James Booth netted for Blacksmiths.
Blackberry Jack qualified for Sunday’s Herts Ad Knockout Cup final after defeating Hilltop 3-1 with goals from Michael Wright, Frank Jowle and George Dale.
Skew Bridge ran away with a 6-1 win over St Albans Warriors in Division A of the Golding Cup. Adriano was the Warriors’ scorers and Tom Dubberley made a save from a penalty.
Harpenden Colts OB also picked up a 6-1 win, beating Watford Furza in Golding Cup Division B.
Billy Hutton scored a hat-trick, and even missed a penalty, while John Addy, Matt Bullock and Patrick Brown chipped in with singles.
