CYCLISTS tucked into a traditional Bikers’ Breakfast in St Albans city centre on Tuesday morning as part of national Bike Week.
They arrived outside St Albans Town Hall to be greeted by a burger van dispensing burgers paid for by St Albans district council. The council funds the Bikers’ Breakfast as an incentive to people to use their bikes to travel into St Albans rather than their cars. This year it estimated around 50 people participated.
The Bikers’ Breakfast was just one of a series of events in St Albans to mark Bike Week which including a free ride on a rickshaw at last Saturday’s market and various distance rides. All the events have been organised by St Albans Cycling Campaign (SACC).
Still to come on Sunday, June 26, is a family special ride of about 12 miles, various other rides of greater distance and a Herts Hilly 100km around the county, all of which starts from Woollams in Harpenden Road.
