The kids are alright as Beaumont School celebrates an incredible year of sporting success

It didn’t matter which age group, what gender or what sport – it’s been a fantastic sporting year for students of Beaumont School.
Senior sport thrived at the school with the U18 boys taking top honours at both the County Tournament and County Cup in basketball, where Ope Afolabi was named MVP, and claiming county success at rugby union with a 16-7 win over Dame Alice Owens, Jacob West scoring 11 points and Max Westcombe the only try.
The football side made the county final for the first time since 2004 but lost to Bishop’s Stortford and the girls’ hockey team also fell just one short of county success.
But there was better news for the basketball team who beat Sir John Lawes in the final and had four players, Tia Freeman, Jocie Leavold, Daisy Porter and Toby Gastaldi-Davis selected for England.
Lower down the school, four teams reached the last 16 of national cups, the U16 boys’ and girls’ and U15 girls’ football team teams as well as the U14 girls’ basketball.
They also won the district and county cups with the U13 and U15 girls also county basketball champions.
