BATCHWOOD Hall Bowls Club’s ladies lost 55-46 to Harpenden in the three-rink match.
Batchwood’s top rink, with the help of Harpenden player Janet Leyland-Naylor, was Jose Riches, Teresa Wood and skip Liz Schlatter.
In the county singles, Batchwood have two ladies going into the next round. Liz Schlatter beat Mary Banks, of Hatfield 21-10 and Kate Horner defeated Sheila Solby of Oakhill Bowls Club by 21 shots to 16.
In the County Pairs, Kate Horner and Pat Savage defeated the Harpenden pair of Cynthia Williams and Beryl Driscoll 21-12.
In the men’s fixtures, Batchwood were once again indebted to Hatfield for hosting what was supposed to be a home friendly fixture. On this occasion Batchwood came out 77-68 on top, winning on three of the four rinks and the match overall by nine shots. Top rink Cliff Springle, Adrian Baddams, Ray Singh and Stan Kemp 25-15
