Batchwood Bowls Club won their season opener against local rivals The St Albans Bowling Club.

The visitors won three of four rinks to take the victory by 81 shots to 53.

The top rink for Batchwood was Jim Gibb, Martin Myland, Dave Norrell and Adrian Baddams, 25-10.

In a mixed match, Batchwood beat Radlett 128-84. Both teams won two rinks, with Batchwod’s top effort coming from Colin Watts, Eddie Price, Pam Ward and John Harvey, 48-12.
