ANTHONY HUGHES, from Potters Bar, with a one over par round of 73 at Whipsnade Park, won the Herts Salver to head the 16 players who qualify for the County Championship next month.
On a fine but blustery day, scoring was never easy, with five over par returns enough to qualify for a place in the championship.
Neil Brinkworth (Sandy Lodge) on 74 was runner-up on countback from Luke Gutteridge (Porters Park), 74, third, with Garry Cooper (South Herts), fourth, also 74.
Ross Woodbridge (Knebworth) followed on 75, ahead of Mark Cohen (Potters Bar) and former champion Charles McKay (Letchworth), both 75.
The championship will take place at Knebworth from June 13-15.
