A busy end to the season was completed by the annual presentation and awards evening.

Held at Colney Heath, the four district sides came together to hand out awards and enjoy the festivities.

Coach Nick Sanders said: "It is always sad to end a season but thanks must be given to all who have been involved - players, coaches, parents, supporters, sponsors, referees and groundsmen."

Among the awards were players' player prizes for Oliver Hawkes, Arthur Ellis, Lara Taylor and Lucien Thompson.

For the Yellows, Eden Kosh won both manager's and parents' player, with Rasmus Duncan the top scorer and the pair of Charlie Stewart and Sandro Mendez-Barral winning the recognition award.

The Blues prizes went to Jack Griffiths (manager), Kymani Norton-Samuda (parents), Trey Joseph (top scorer) and Oscar Rowland and Sam Brierley (recognition).

The final action on the pitch was frenetic.

The Yellows had a trip to Oxford City for the Southern Counties Cup finals.

Their semi final was against a good Hackney side but the young Saints pinned them back in the first half.

Eden Kosh and Ollie Hawkes had plenty of the ball and the Hackney keeper was kept busy, with the woodwork helping him out at times.

In the end he was beaten just the once, a good finish by Rasmus Duncan.

The Londoners though came out strongly after the break and took the lead by the midway point of the second half.

However, good work by Buddy Beeby and Kosh late on allowed Duncan to score his 40th of the season and make it 2-2.

Penalties denied them a place in the final but they did finish third after beating Gloucester 2-0 in the play-off, skipper Jordan Griggs and Duncan with the goals.

Coach Nick Sanders said: "It was a great way to end the season and it has been a pleasure to coach these lads for the past nine months."

The girls were even busier, first winning 2-0 away to Woking in the London League, Lara Taylor and Anna Dibbs on target.

They then hosted Wokingham on the artificial surface at Sandringham School in a London League Super 6s match.

The visitors had beaten Newbury in their Southern Counties Cup final one day earlier but St Albans started strongly and matched them in every department early on.

The breakthrough from the Berkshire side came against the run of play and out of nothing and in their determination to get back into the game quickly, Saints conceded another.

Two further goals followed in the space of three second half minutes but the girls were undeterred and were rewarded with a great finish by Olivia Carr to make the final score 5-1, Wokingham adding to their own tally with the final kick of the game.

Sanders said: "The small things matter in tight games like this and the difference between the sides was the exceptional left winger of Wokingham.

"Our girls should be so proud and pleased with their performances as the final score was harsh."
