The Herts Advertiser Sunday League is up and running for its 63rd season - with the first fixtures played.

They produced a total of 50 goals too

Plough & Harrow are the early leaders in the Premier Division after a 3-2 win over Little Heath. Chris Dunn bagged two of the three with the other coming from Charlie Gould.

Forever Young People are second after a 2-1 win over Harpenden Colts OB, Dan Bradley getting the consolation for the Colts, while there was also a 2-2 draw between Mermaid and Borehamwood Rovers.

Chris Wilding and Ben Taylor scored in the second half for Mermaid.

Newly-promoted Wheathampstead Wanderers made a fine start to their Division One campaign with a 4-2 win against Phoenix Res.

Joe Rabey got two with Noah Arthur-Tinworth and Toby Collins also on target. Warren Forman got one for Phoenix.

They aren't top though as goals from Joseph Fletcher, Connor Perl and James Todd saw The Bull win 3-0 at home to BWSC.

Goals from Joe Francis, Charlie Montegue and George Sippetts gave Welwyn Rangers a 3-1 win against Saints in Division Two, Daniel Martin getting the solitary reply, while Ben Smith was on the mark for Alban Dynamo in their 2-0 win against Mermaid Res.

Two games were mostly responsible for the number of goals scored on the opening weekend, both returning 11.

In Division Three, Hertfordshire Vets beat Wrestlers 7-4 thanks in part to a hat-trick from Robert Gradwell.

Diego Dafonte (two), Michael Lloyd and Kieran Hopkins got the others while Will Orridge (two), Nathanael Burke and Bentley Hills replied for Wrestlers.

Biggest winners of the day though were Alban Dynamo Res who won 10-1 against CPFC Eagles in Division Four.

Aarron Crawford, Leo Collier and Harry Pavett each scored two while Ollie West, Frankie Delacy and Harry Peter were also on target.

A lone goal from Jack Hutchinson gave Royston Rangers Res a 1-0 win over Phoenix A in the final game of the day.

The league has also announced the sad news that president Roy Scott has died.
