For many the marathon is the ultimate endurance race - but the coronation weekend saw a number from St Albans Striders push their own personal boundaries.

Andrew McKillop and Alice Cliverd completed the gruelling Thames Path 100 in 20 hours 55 minutes and 27:26 respectively.

The 100-mile take the field from Richmond in south-west London to the centre of Oxford.

McKillop finished 28th overall out of a field of more than 200 and was fifth in his age category.

The conditions underfoot made this one of the toughest he had experienced in his six finishes in the event, with many of his fellow competitors falling by the wayside and not reaching the city of dreaming spires.

Further North, Jen Conway, Hollie Ryder and Jonny Pennell had the honour of representing Hertfordshire at the Senior British Inter-Counties Mountain Race in Sedburgh in Cumbria.

The course was 14km long and included a climb of 760 metres.

In a more familiar event Natalie Myfanwy was 38th overall out of a field of 350, and eighth female, at the Olympic Park 10km.

She clocked 45:37 and was closely followed by team-mate Will Brown who was 46th overall in 46:20.
