St Albans Striders were spoiled for choice with half marathon events at the weekend.

They had 21 athletes at the popular Cambridge Half with the first of them to finish being Stefano Federici in a PB time of one hour 10 minutes 30 seconds, 36th from a field of more than 11,000.

He was closely followed by Matthew Holman (1:12:09), Jonathan Pennell (1.12.57), Barnaby Walker (1.15.27) and Adam Yorwerth (1:15:35).

Megan Zoe Walker was the first female Strider in 1:18:04.

Three times that many were at the Berkhamsted Half, a significant proportion of 830-strong field.

Steve Buckle led the Striders home in fourth with a time of 1:13:29, followed by Paul Adams who also achieved the top 10 in 1:14:33.

Penny Habbick was the first female in 1:28:28, fifth in the women's race.

In contrast, flying the flag solo for the Striders, Rose McGinness completed the Lincolnshire Half in Scunthorpe in a time of 1:48:44.

Three Striders travelled much further afield to Japan to complete the Tokyo marathon.

Andrew Mckillop, Judy Willits and Richard Hayes were the trio with the exertions of Willits meaning she has now completed the big six world marathons - Berlin, Boston, Chicago, London and New York being the others.
