Athletes from St Albans took part in two very different events - but having great performances in both.
The English National Relay Championships saw a squad of 50 from the combined Striders and Athletics Club ranks head to Mansfield.
Among the hugely pleasing results from the squad was the junior women team of Lily Tse, Christy Durbin and Sarah McGrath finishing 16th out of 43 teams.
The U17 women went even better, finishing sixth of 60.
Phoebe Gill ran the second fastest leg on the anchor with Annabel Hedge and Beckie Cray putting her into a good position.
The U15s finished 37th out of 95 while the U13 girls were able to field two teams, the A string finishing 20th and the B team 47th.
There were two teams in the U17 men's race, the A team coming 35th of 81.
The women's A string had the best result in the senior races as Keira Stern, Hannah Rayden and Freya Weddell finished 37th out of 139 teams.
A bit different to the mud of Nottinghamshire was the New York Marathon.
Six Striders took on that challenge with Jim King getting the best time in two hours 57 minutes two seconds.
Andrew McKillop (3:14:44), Seb Rowe (3:23:32), Nigel Aston (3:32:40), Bex Clare (4:33:18) and Ruth Kent (4:39:08) were the others to head across the Atlantic.
