Another win for St Albans City kept the David Noble bandwagon hurtling along in National League South - but the boss was not overly impressed with parts of the performance.

Saints beat Weymouth 3-2 at home to make it three wins from the last three league games and a total of seven unbeaten from the nine the caretaker has been in charge of.

The last three games have also yielded 12 goals and shot Saints into the play-off positions, up to fifth, but Noble wanted more.

He said: "Nine points from nine and 12 goals is impressive but we weren’t at our best tonight by any stretch [and yet] we could have had six goals.

"It was a little bit like Slough on Saturday but we’re still scoring goals and that is still a positive sign."

Shaun Jeffers bagged a brace in the victory taking his tally to 12 in all competitions and nine in the games with Noble at the helm.

His two goals had given Saints a comfortable half-time lead and the boss said: "Shaun was different class tonight. That was his best game of the season."

The second period afforded Weymouth a way back into the game and they pulled one back just before the hour before grabbing a second with two minutes to go.

Fortunately Mitchell Weiss had scored on 79 minutes to ease the pressure but Noble was not happy with some of the defending for the Terras second goal.

He said: "It looked like everyone had stopped, it looked like they'd heard a whistle.

"I’ll have to have a look back at it but it looked a soft goal from our point of view."

City go to Eastbourne Borough on Saturday.
