Games were in short supply in the Herts Ad Sunday League as waterlogged pitches reigned supreme - but the ones that did go ahead were not short of action.

A penalty shoot-out was needed in the Herts Ad Intermediate Cup as Division Three rivals Alban Dynamo and Strafford Arms Res drew 3-3.

Dynamo, at the opposite end of the standings to table-topping Arms, came out on top with a 5-3 win.

Division Five Royston Rangers Res almost sprung a surprise against Division Two Wheathampstead '89 before the higher-ranked club won 5-3.

Jacob Jones (two), Christopher Coleman, James Watt and Charlie Gilroy got the Wheato goals while Royston's scorers were Jack Hutchinson, Jamal Green and Sam Broadey.

Division One leaders Welwyn Garden United lost to fellow Division One side Wheathampstead Wanderers 3-1 in the Herts Ad Challenge Cup, Tom Mardle's goal wiped out by Frankie Buckler, Stephen Buckler and Michael Cheesman.

Goals from Phil Benard and Ryan Harrington gave St George's a 2-0 win over Division Three rivals BWSC in the Herts Ad Junior Cup while the Jim Lynch Trophy saw a second meeting of the season for Brookmans Park and Welwyn Warriors.

Park beat the Division Two side for the second time - Adam Davies (two), Chris Powell and Jon Cox on target in a 4-2 victory. Steve Mee and Adriano Gil replied for Warriors.

In Division Two a Troy Archer hat-trick helped Excel to a 5-2 away win against Harpenden Colts OB Res.

Jack Brown and Joseph Curran got the others for Excel while Paul Gillard and Stephen Harris scored for the Colts.

Pinewood remained top and unbeaten after a 4-1 victory over Oceans XI. Andrew Alsop (two), George Milsted and Mark Hayward got their goals, Charlie Tilbrook adding Oceans' sole reply.

There was a nine-goal thriller in Division Four between unbeaten sides Brookmans Park Res and Welwyn Rangers.

Park's goals came from Nathan Gibbons (two), Bradley Carter, Skrdlik Jiri and the division's top marksman, 17-goal Sammy Kinsley, while Luke Stuckey got one and Charlie Montague three for Welwyn.

Luke Fountain and Christian Simmons were on amongst the scorers as Royston Rangers picked up an impressive away win against Wrestlers Reserves.

Moretown thumped St Albans Eagles 9-0 to remain with a 100 per cent record in Division Five.

Maxwell Judge hit a hat-trick, Daniel Pugh two and Sammy Shakiry, Christopher Ellinas, Alfie Packer and John Mitas one each.
