SAINTS new boy James Lindie got his first 90 minutes under his belt in six months during Tuesday night's 1-0 win over Maidenhead United.
Former Southend trainee, Lindie, has been nursing a nasty ankle injury that ruled him out for half a year and has left him short of match fitness.
"I couldn't believe I got through 90 minutes," Lindie told the Herts Advertiser. "Every time the subs board went up I was praying it was going to be me because that is my first game for six months. I was pleased to get it under my belt though."
Lindie's injury was a serious one and the 20-year-old is delighted just to be back playing.
"I broke my ankle and did the ligaments in my Achilles; it was quite a serious injury.
It was frustrating but it's just one of those things in football that you have to put up with," explained Lindie.
"Steve's (Castle) given me a good opportunity to come here and play football and hopefully I can repay him by getting some goals and some wins under our belt."
Lindie had a number of chances during Tuesday night's victory and the striker believes with a bit more match fitness he'll start to take them and help City push up the league table.
"I'd like to think when I'm a bit sharper I'd put them away," he said.
"The one in the second half I definitely think I should've had that. In the first half I had header which got a nasty bump on my mouth.
"Hopefully we can go and get a good result on Saturday (at Thurrock) to help push us up the league table again.
