ON LOAN Rushden & Diamonds midfielder Jake Beecroft is keen to extend his stay at Clarence Park.

The midfielder has been a revelation on the right wing for City notching up four assists in his last three outings as well as being involved in the move that resulted in City's penalty against Dorchester Town on Tuesday night.

Beecroft has played every minute of all seven games since he's been at the club and the 20-year-old is enjoying the City life.

"Last year I got some first team football at Rushden but this year he's (Justin Edinburgh, Rushden manager) bought in a couple of players and I haven't been involved," Beecroft told the Herts Advertiser.

"Coming here and getting 90 minutes under my belt the more I'm playing the more I'm getting back into my game and I'm enjoying it."

Beecroft is pleased to be involved in so many of City's goals of late but admits he's eager to get his name on the scoresheet too.

"It's always good to be involved in the play but I'm looking for my first goal as well!" he said.

"Hopefully that will come and someone can give me an assist. I'm enjoying my time here and I think it's going to be extended and I'm looking forward to getting a couple more."

City are keen to extend Beecroft's stay and the midfielder is happy to do so if the clubs can reach an agreement.

"Steve Castle will have to get in touch with Rushden, but I'm happy to stay here for another month or maybe until the end of the season because you can't beat getting 90 minutes," said Beecroft.

Speaking of Tuesday's win over Dorchester Beecroft said: "It was a scrappy game, the pitch had a bit of a bobble on it, I think it was more of a team effort and a bit of a passionate game, we got stuck into them and luckily we got the three points.

"It's always better for any team if they're winning. There's a better atmosphere around the place and hopefully you never know what might happen - if we can get another three points on Saturday maybe we can sneak into the play-offs. Conference South it seems everybody is beating each other so if we can keep our run going you never know."

A win at Eastleigh on Saturday would help boost any possible play-off charge and Beecroft says the Saints squad is heading to Hampshire in confident mood.

"We're going there with a lot of confidence," he said.

"Hopefully we can put a couple past them and keep it strong at the back like we have done the last couple of games. The defence has chopped and changed a bit but whoever's come in has done a good job.

"We're not letting in many goals from open play so hopefully we can have a tight game down there and get three points.
