RUGBY LEAGUE: ST ALBANS Centurions’ Andy Lake has been named the Sportsman of the Year at the 2010 Luton Sports Awards held at Vauxhall Recreation Centre in Luton.
Andy beat off representatives from athletics, swimming and football to win the award for his achievements in rugby league which saw him win the Southern Premiership and RLC National Championship with St Albans while also playing in the Home Nations with England Lionhearts and touring in South Africa with GB Community Lions. Andy’s international commitments also saw him playing against France and Jamaica.
Andy also became the first southern based rugby league player to be picked for the South African President’s Select side the Sables. This award tops what has been an unbelievable year for Andy.
