ST Albans City’s Midweek Youth team got their Allied Counties Premier League campaign back on track with a comfortable 5-0 win away at Slough Town on Tuesday night.

After the previous week’s postponed match the young Saints got off to a very bright start notching up two goals in the first 10 minutes.

James Kaloczi got the first following a quick free-kick from Danny McCarthy to Matt Taylor, whose run and shot from the right was parried by the Slough keeper into Kaloczi’s path and hammered high into the net.

The second came courtesy of Abo Eisa’s glancing header from another McCarthy free-kick, this time from near the right hand corner.

Slough posed very little opposition to City and after another Eisa shot was parried on to the bar by the Slough custodian on 25 minutes, Taylor got the third five minutes later.

This time it was a pinpoint cross from winger Ken Ogbuagu which Taylor headed back across goal and inside the right hand post.

In the second half City made quick three substitutions, but it wasn’t until the last 10 minutes that they added to the scoreline.

Elliott Bailey increased his season’s impressive goal tally with a left foot shot from the edge of the box after running across the pitch for the fourth, whilst super-sub Cieran Yapp got the final goal with a hard low shot just inside the right hand upright.

Overall it was an impressive performance, which sees the team rise to third place in the league.

With just a little bit more composure in front of goal the it could have been a far more emphatic win.
