STRIDER Adam Mellor completed the Transbaie race across the Baie de Somme in France on Sunday.
The race sees competitors run through creeks, deep sand, water and mud. For Adam this comprised a race within a race as he had been challenged by his two brothers. Unfortunately, he only beat one of them.
Also on Sunday Luke Hart took part in the hilly Needles Cross Country half marathon in the Isle of Wight in very hot conditions and Strider Amy Turner finished her first triathlon, the Outlaw Half Ironman, in Nottingham in an excellent 5hrs 53mins, coming sixth in her age group.
There was a huge turnout of 220 runners for the St Albans Parkrun on Saturday. Mark Castleton was the first Strider male to finish in sixth overall and Jenny Maddocks was once again the first Strider female, coming 23rd overall.
Other Striders in the first 50 were Richard Devereux (14th), Brendan Cashman (17th), Andrew Maher (31st and a personal best time), Wendy Walsh (39th), Andrew Coles (47th) and Howard Bull (50th).
