St Albans City FC’s Trust has donated £1,000 to the Isabel Hospice in Welwyn Garden City in memory of Ryan Moran.
Moran, City’s player of the year after the 2000/01 season, died earlier this year at the age of 31.
The Saints Trust, the supporters’ arm of the club, held a charity walk in the autumn as well as a collection at the Boxing Day game against Chesham United, another of Moran’s former sides.
A Trust spokesman said: “All Saints fans will have been saddened by the passing of Ryan, especially at such a young age. Ryan’s dad John has asked for a message of thanks to be passed on from all his family - including wife Lorraine, daughter Verity and Ryan’s widow Chloe - to everyone who donated money to the sponsored walk.”
