Herts Eagles built on their positive start of the season with an 8-5 home win over the Richmond Knights.
They lost the second game of the doubleheader 9-2 but their results so far this season mean that they are among the runners in the Triple-A League play-off race.
“We came up against a difficult opponent, but our young team, featuring many Great Britain U19 and U17 National Team players, was not fazed and produced a battling performance – a sign that the future is bright for Herts and for the GB Team,” said Eagles manager, Carlos Casal.
In the Double-A League Herts Hawks had a confidence-boosting 19-9 away win over the South London Pirates. A spirited comeback in the final inning of the second game brought two runs in to make the score 8-7 for the Pirates, but the hosts held on for the win.
Despite a 20-9 season opening away defeat to the London Marauders, Herts Raptors can look ahead to a positive season.
Raptors co-manager Rob Jones said: “I was really impressed with how the guys performed against a tough team. There are a lot of positives to build on.” The Raptors highlight of the day was the return from long term injury of Joseph Osborne-Brade, making his first BBF start in two seasons and picking up where he left off with both bat and glove.
