John Frendo and Lee Chappell have committed to St Albans City for the 2014/15 season.

Frendo, City’s topscorer last season, scored 43 goals in 54 games including a brace in the play-off final against Chesham United that ensured St Albans’ passage back to the Conference.

Speaking to the club website, joint manager James Gray said: “We all know what John can do in front of goal. With his outstanding record we knew that he would attract interest from other clubs so I am really thrilled that he has agreed to work with us again.”

Having moved to Clarence Park last summer from Wealdstone, Chappell was named the supporters’ player of the season after making 61 appearances for the Saints, the most by any players. The left-back added three goals to his impressive season.

Speaking of the signing, joint manager Graham Golds said: “Lee has proven his value to the team and Jimmy and I are really pleased that he has committed to us and St Albans City.”
