Lee Chappell was named St Albans City’s player of the month for September.
Last year’s supporters’ player of the year had a quiet start to the Vanarama Conference South season, as he was pinned in his left-back position rather than marauding down the left flank, but he exploded into life in September.
After a defeat at Ebbsfleet and a draw at Bromley, Chappell netted his first senior hat-trick in a 4-1 win over Maidenhead United. He then helped the Saints beat his former club Wealdstone 3-0 before scoring the only goal in an FA Cup second qualifying round win over Hayes and Yeading.
