Colney Heath threw away a three-goal lead as Hertford Town earned a point at Hertingfordbury Park on Saturday.
The Magpies came firing out of the blocks and only the post denied Josh Bronti a third-minute goal. They were two up within 10 minutes as Courtney Lawrence scored twice in quick succession to put the visitors in total control.
Lawrence then turned provider when he set up Danny Payne to put Heath 3-0 up going into the interval.
The second half was, once again, one-way traffic, but it was Hertford doing all the attacking. Louis Rose opened the hosts’ account from the penalty spot and they were within one after Bradley Fraser prodded home following a goal-mouth scramble.
With a slender lead and all the pressure on their back four, Heath looked to have held out for all three points. But, deep into injury time, former Hertford defender Glenn Draper conceded a controversial penalty and Rose completed the unlikely come-back.
