Josh Cameron scored a late try to earn Verulamians a 17-12 victory over Royston in Herts/Middlesex 1.
Following last week’s loss to Old Actonians, Vees put on a display of attacking, flowing rugby in the first half, only to come away with a Darren Westhead try and another from Joe Baker. Gareth Waters added the extras to the latter.
With the elements in their favour, Vees expected a greater point return in the second half, but Royston had other ideas. Their pack started to compete in set-plays and Vees squandered chances through mishandling or taking poor tactical options.
That was until Cameron bustled over the line late on.
