Ngoyi wants to sign for St Albans City

The former Saint left Clarence Park for work reasons in December 2013 after scoring 18 goals in a season and a half.

He spent the majority of the 2014/15 campaign out of the game, only playing eight times for Harrow Borough in the Ryman League Premier Division. He retained his scoring touch, though, notching five goals.

Ngoyi was invited to pre-season by joint manager James Gray and has featured in both friendlies so far - Monday’s 4-0 defeat to Dagenham and Redbridge and last night’s loss to Watford.

Speaking about being back at the club, he said: “It feels great. The boys are legends and there’s good banter. It’s like a second home here and me and Jimmy have a good relationship. I want to pay back his faith by getting fit and getting goals.”

Ngoyi hasn’t been offered a contract but he’s hopeful of getting a deal done.

“I feel like we’ll talk soon,” he said.

“I have been getting calls from other clubs but this is where I want to be. Fingers crossed I’ll sign.”

St Albans have never really found a suitable replacement for Ngoyi, going through a laundry list of forgettable strikers in an effort to find someone to partner John Frendo.

Frendo joined Hemel Hempstead Town in the summer, leaving a big void in the goal-scoring stakes, but Ngoyi sees plenty of goals in the current crop of forwards at St Albans.

“We’ve got a good set of lads,” he said. “Me and Billy [Medlock] are quite similar to work off [Simon Thomas], who looks like a good hold up player. I can win a few headers, too, so it’ll be interesting to see how the managers mix it up.

“It’s all about getting goals and I feel we’ve got a few in us.”

If Ngoyi is signed, he has set his sights very high.

“Why not push for promotion? I can’t see why we can’t,” he said.
