A sensational second-half comeback was the highlight of another good weekend for St Albans City Youth.
The U12 North found themselves 4-0 down at half-time to Everett Rovers, in a game that had to be switched to the Watford club’s ground due to a waterlogged pitch in St Albans.
However, the team talk must close to Churchillian as the North were inspired in the second period, scoring five times to win 5-4.
Louis Sampson led the way with four goals, Ryan Corcoran scoring the fifth.
The U12 West came through their County Cup tie at London Maccabi with a 2-1 win, thanks to two Jack Cullen goals.
The U10 Victoria finished a creditable fifth in the Indesit Road to Wembley finals day, played at Wembley Powerleague.
Drawn in a tough group with the regional winners from Birmingham, London, Tyneside, Northern Ireland and Scotland, the boys did brilliantly to win two and draw one of their opening games.
But a narrow loss to the London winners, and eventual finalists, Academy de Skillz, meant they missed out on a semi-final place by a single point.
A spokesman for the team said: “It was a fantastic day for the boys.
“It started with a team breakfast followed by a tour of Wembley Stadium, where the boys got to taste life inside England’s dressing rooms, before having pictures in the royal box with the FA Cup.”
The U18 West won 2-0 away to Hemel Aces Wasps with goals from Paolo Ditri and Sam Waters-Rathjen.
The man-of-the-match went to left back Ellis Allan.
The U15 South also picked up a good win, 4-1 against Omonia. Harrison Arnold scored twice and there was one each for Harry Smith and Ross Weaver.
Midfielder Max Bell was named man-of-the-match.
The U13 North were invovled in a eight-goal thriller in a Junior League Cup tie.
Jack Geldard grabbed all four for the North in a 4-4 draw against Redbourn.
The U13 South travelled to Alexander Park and came back with a 3–0 win.
Will Brown, Conor Kelly and Tom Dodd grabbed the goals with Charlie Craddock getting the man-of-the-match went to goalkeeper Charlie Craddock.
In the girls section there was hard-fought win for the U13s who just got the better of local rivals Harvesters with a 3-2 win.
Mia Pinkham scored two, with an own-goal completing the scoring for Saints.
