After last week’s historic first Women’s British Basketball League (WBBL) win, Oaklands Wolves were celebrating again after a 73-71 overtime win at BA London Lions in the first round of the WBBL Cup.

Heroine for the day was Krisztina Nagy who landed a three-point shot on the buzzer to seal the win and send them through to the quarter-finals.

The big key to the victory came in overtime where the Wolves landed 50 per cent of their shots, a stat which increased to four from five inside the last two minutes, when they put together an 8-2 run.

And while Nagy will get the headlines, Wolves were led expertly by Canadian Kellie Ring who returned with 18 points, five rebounds and five assists followed by Rachel Morris 14, who posted a massive double-double of 14 points and 17 rebounds.

Wolves will have homecourt advantage in the quarter-finals when they host Team Northumbria.
