Guts and determination were two qualities in abundance for St Albans Athletics Club at the Chiltern Cross Country League at Keysoe in Bedfordshire.
The club again managed to field runners in each age group from U11 up and in the U11 boys, Sean Gallagher finished fourth to keep the team’s medal hopes alive.
Fourth was also the finishing position for Antonia Jubb in the U13 girls’, one place ahead of team-mate Lily Tse.
Tom Gaunce and Adam Grimes both made the top-10 in the boys’ race.
Thomas Cooper was 12th in the U15 boys’ and Charlotte Payne, running in only her second race for the club, calling it “so much fun”.
A team of five athletes made up the U17/20 women’s age group. Eva Ilari was the first home closely followed by a great run from Caitlin Eckley.
Oliver Davis was the sole representative for the club in the U17 men.
