It’s a homecoming in more ways than one for Jack Singleton as the England hooker swaps Worcester Warriors for Saracens.
The 22-year-old is a Harpenden man through and through, having been born and raised in the town, and played for the town’s rugby club as well as going to St George’s School.
But he is also very familiar with the surroundings of Allianz Park and the Saracens’ training base at Woollams having been a member of the academy before making the switch to Sixways five years ago.
And Singleton is delighted to sign for he club he supported as a boy on a three-year deal.
He said: “I’m very excited to sign for Saracens.
“I’m relishing the opportunity to join a club which has been extremely successful in recent seasons and I hope to contribute to future successes as much as I can.
“I’d like to thank Worcester for an incredible five years. They gave me the chance to progress as a player and have helped me develop immensely in that period.
“I’m extremely grateful to them.”
Singleton’s time in Worcestershire saw gain a regular place in the starting XV as well as catching the attention of an international audience, winning the U20 World Rugby Championships back in 2016 alongside team-mate Max Malins.
He was named Worcester’s young player of the season in 2017 and has toured with the England sides that went to Argentina and South Africa.
And he has been kept in Eddie Jones’ thoughts with a place in the training squad ahead of this year’s Six Nations.
Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall said: “We’re pleased to have signed a player of Jack’s quality, someone who knows the club well having been in our academy.
“His rugby has significantly progressed with Worcester and we are excited to see what more is to come.”
