St Albans City’s plans for next season have begun with the re-signing of four of last year’s squad.
Skipper Tom Bender leads the quartet with Zane Banton, Scott Shulton and James Kaloczi the others to put pen to paper for another year at Clarence Park.
Bender is the longest-serving of the current team, having made 163 appearances in the Saints' shirt.
On the other end of the scale Shulton and James Kaloczi were only drafted in for the closing month of City's National League South campaign, although for Kaloczi this is his third spell at the club.
Banton meanwhile had impressed after forcing his way back into the team around Christmas.
And while his season was ended early due to a broken leg, he is now out of plaster and expected to back in time for pre-season training.
Manager Ian Allinson has promised though the signings won't stop there as they continue to look at strengthening the squad.
He said: "We've spoken to all the players from last year and made offers to those we'd like to keep so to have Zane, Tom, James and Scott all sign so early in the off-season is a great boost and should emphasise our intentions.
"The player turnaround is always quite high in non-league but we're looking for stability at the club and we'll use last year's squad as a foundation to build upon and hopefully we can bring in that extra bit of quality that we were lacking towards the end of the last few months.
"We know the areas where we need to improve but I also want to reward those players who gave everything for us over the last season.
"We've got a very talented side here and it may only be a case of adding the odd new face here and there to help us make that step up."
One player leaving Clarence Park, however, is central defender Lewis Knight who has signed for National League South newboys Maidstone United.
