HARPENDEN continued their fine start to the season with a comprehensive defeat of Broxbourne on Saturday in the East Men's League Premier B.
A fine first-half performance led by Man of the Match David Falk took Harpenden into the break three goals up and the game was won. The goals were scored by Falk and Paul Wise with two.
Broxbourne attempted to knock the home side out of their stride after the break but Harpenden held their nerve and battled to a well-deserved victory. Lance Boyd-Clark added his name to the scoresheet and Harpenden were very proud to hand a first team debut to impressive prospect Alex Radgman, aged 15.
Nigel Timms marked his first appearance of the season for Harpenden II with a goal but the Whites went down 4-1 to Upminster.
The Great Whites host Southend next week, who maintained their 100 per cent start to the season in Division Two South, but skipper Sam Martyn said: "Let's not forget, this lot were playing - and beating - our first team four years ago. It just goes to show how far we've come. We were under no illusions about how tough this league will be but I have every confidence that we'll turn the corner very soon and start accumulating points.
