BATCHWOOD Tennis Centre has had an outstandingly successful term since September.
Batchwood's Cameron Yuill, a national 10-and-Under, player has won two regional events since September and has made huge progress since increasing his programme in September. Georgie Walker won five tournaments over the term, including both county and regional Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) events and she was invited to National training in November. She has also been selected by the LTA to go to Wimereux in France for a tournament, along with fellow Batchwood player Georgie Axon.
Josh Rose also won a Regional event in Loughborough in November and has improved his match play greatly.
Batchwood's school and community work and Mini Aces programme has been launched, with 48 children from local schools who have eagerly started the pathway into performance tennis.
Recently one of Batchwood's mini teams won the county tournament that took place at Odyssey, with eight Hertfordshire teams taking part. The team of Alex Hildreth, Emily Freeman, James George and Sam Warner took the gold medals. Batchwood beat Sawbridgeworth first, then Harpenden in the semis, before seeing off Letchworth in the final.
