ST ALBANS AC athletes monopolised the U15 80m hurdles at Saturday's Herts County Schools championships at Hemel Hempstead.

Christian Gaddes (11.7secs) led home a 1-2-3 for runners based at the Westminster Lodge club with Luke Yaxley (11.8secs) and Jason Tang (11.9secs) in second and third.

All three attained the entry standard required to be considered for selection for the English Schools Championships at Sheffield in July.

That feat was also matched on the day by a clutch of St Albans members when winning their events.

In the U15 boys, Gaddes also won the 80m hurdles, Jake Awe the triple jump, Chris Hilton the 800m, Joel McNeill the 400m and James McMurray the 1500m.

Alicia Tymon-McKewan (75m hurdles) and Abi Wilde (javelin) were U15 girls' winners within the English Schools standard.

There was also success for U17 women Abi Holman (triple jump) and Rebecca Pritchard (1500m), U17 men Khalid Al-Abaidy (1500m) and Kieran Moss (triple jump) plus Megan Steer in the U15 girls 800m.
