PEOPLE will be able to enjoy an action-packed weekend of fun and entertainment on this Saturday and Sunday when venues across the district take part in the Residents First Weekend. Redbournbury Watermill is just one of more than 40 attractions, restaurants, hotels and sports centres taking part this year and as always on Resident's First Weekend it will be free to visit the mill. Why not buy some flour milled in the mill itself while you are here? Elsewhere various attractions are open free for the day such as Redbourn Village Museum, The Roman Theatre and St Albans Clock Tower. St Albans Abbey are once again putting on many events such as Tower and Stone store tours, and this year for the first time an Ancient Graffiti tour. On Sunday at the Museum of St Albans, there will be an extra event to those published at 2pm when the St Albans Mummers put on a special performance of St George and the Dragon to coincide with the museum's Tudors exhibition. Once again this event is free. Batchwood Hall Nightclub is also taking part in the Residents First Weekend for the first time. Turn up between 9.30pm and 11pm with your leaflet and receive free admission and a free-drink voucher. The Residents Feast is also popular with several of the district's favourite restaurants offering discounts over the weekend. St Michael's Manor is giving a free bottle of champagne for each couple, the Quality Hotel is offering a free bottle of house wine and Vega is offering 20 per cent off the final bill, to mention but a few. Just show your Residents First leaflet or the wrap on this week's Herts Advertiser to receive the offer and as with all popular restaurants, please book a table to avoid any disappointment. All the offers and information on the Residents First Weekend are available in the leaflet. If you have not got a leaflet, they can be obtained from the Tourist and Information Centre in the Old Town Hall, St Albans (01727 864511). At the Residents First Information Point over the weekend will be an exhibition from Butterfly World. So if you haven't yet seen plans for this fantastic project please do call in. The Residents First Information Point will be open from 9am-4pm on Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sunday, in the Old Town Hall, St Albans. You can pick up vouchers for those events which require them and take part in the free Residents First Raffle. With many great prizes it must be worth a shot. The Residents First weekend is your weekend, have fun!
