St Albans fire station will open its doors to local schoolchildren next week to help them learn about the dangers of electricity.
The workshops, lasting for two weeks between Monday, March 7, and Friday, March 18, will be run by UK Power Networks with the aim of educating hundreds of local primary school children.
The youngsters will primarily learn why they must not ignore ‘danger’ signs or enter electricity substation sites.
Ros Forbes, UK Power Networks’ public safety and education adviser, said: “Over the two weeks we hope to get the message across that young children should stay away from electrical equipment such as substations and overhead lines.
“While we use fun interactive equipment, everyone goes away understanding how dangerous electricity can be if it’s not treated with respect.”
