HE may be one of the youngest ever candidates to stand for election in St Albans, but that is not going to stop 18-year-old Josh Molloy from fighting for a seat on St Stephen parish council.
Josh, of Maplefield, Park Street, has been selected by St Albans Labour Party to run in the parish council by-election, which takes place next Thursday.
And at 18 years and 43 days on polling day it is thought the A-level student will be the youngest ever candidate to stand for local election in the city.
The teenager, who will cast his first vote in an election next week, said: “There aren’t enough young people in local politics and yet a lot of the major policies at the moment disproportionately affect young people.”
He added: “Leisure and transport are two of the big issues I see in Park Street.”
