YOUNG visitors to a farm village can expect to feel chipper if they visit during its annual Potato Shindig.
Willows Farm Village in London Colney is opening its Potato Patch each weekend in September and inviting visitors to get their hands dirty by harvesting their own bag of lovely fresh spuds.
Andrew Wolfe, the farmer at Willows, said: “We know that not everyone has the space and time needed to grow their own vegetables at home but luckily, we have both of those things in abundance at Willows.
“Thanks to the combination of heavy rain and sunny weather there’s a bumper crop of Picasso potatoes growing here at the Farm Village.”
He added: “While we are often told and are aware of the benefits of buying and eating local, seasonal produce, we wanted a way to communicate the important link between field and fork to children in a fun and engaging way. Potato Shindig was the answer.”
Visitors to the Potato Shindig will receive one free bag of potatoes per child admission.
