Aspiring vets can put their animal care skills to the test at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo next half-term.

Youngsters can visit a specially made Animal Hospital and learn how to examine, x-ray and treat different animals as part of the Vets in Action events.

They can also watch the experts operate on a soft-toy chimpanzee and conduct a health check on a replica lion, before carrying out their own examinations on cuddly toy rabbits, guinea pigs and rats.

Alongside the role-playing, there will be talks on animal medicine, demonstrating how vets ensure the zoo’s 3,000 animals stay fit and healthy.

It is running every day from Saturday February 10 to Sunday February 18 2018, 10.30am to 12pm and 2.30pm to 3.30pm.

Book online here - Vets in Action is included in the zoo entry fee.
