Several police cars were called to Sumpter Yard around 8pm after two men were assaulted by a large gang of youths.
A man on crutches was believed to have been beaten quite badly with his own crutches by members of the gang.
But a police spokesperson said the injured victims agreed to be treated at the scene by an ambulance crew and refused to go to hospital.
She added: "Unfortunately no-one would agree to pressing charges even though officers stressed the importance of doing so.
