WORK to replace an old and unreliable Pelican crossing in Harpenden gets underway on Monday.

It is situated in Station Road near to Station Approach in the town and two weeks is being allowed for the work to be carried out. The road will remain open but some excavation work will take place on the footpath which may be restricted at times.

A similar project will be carried out at the Pelican crossing in Hatfield Road, St Albans, near the junction with Upper Marlborough Road, starting on Wednesday, February 11.

It is also due to take around two weeks with no road closures planned.
